3 Great Places for Matcha Lattes in Barcelona +1

I love coffee however I can get overstimulated after one cup. I had to hunt for a substitute beverage. I began to drink matcha lattes in Barcelona. I have included three locations in the city where I love getting matcha lattes below.

I usually have mine with cowmilk, but you can also have it with plant-based milk. Offering the two options has become a standard in Barcelona.

Takashi Ochiai in Eixample

Matcha lattes in Barcelona – Takashi Ochiai

Takashi Ochiai is one of my favourite bakeries in Barcelona. I won’t mention all the mouthwatering croissants, cakes or mochis they sell today. We will talk about their matcha lattes. What better place to have a great matcha latte than a Japanese patisserie?

In winter, you can sip it warm. In summer, you can have it as a milkshake. For me, the best matcha milkshake in the city. They also have all sorts of desserts and sweet treats based on matcha tea. The service here is friendly.

The decor is minimal (a bit too minimal for my taste) with white walls, benches, tables and chairs. But the most important thing is the food. Outside, they have tables on a street terrace.

Hidden Coffee Roasters in El Born

Matcha lattes in Barcelona – Hidden Coffee Roasters

Hidden Coffee Roasters have two coffee shops in Barcelona: in Les Corts and El Born. I am familiar with the one in Born. I am not sure if their names gave you a hint, but they specialise in coffees :). However, I come here for their matcha lattes. You order and pay at the bar. Then they bring it to your table with a glass of water. Incidentally, I get one of their delicious cakes.

This coffee shop in El Born is trendy and stylish. The staff is warm. The music is good. Last time I was here, I stayed the entire afternoon because of their reggae playlist. You can work with your laptop here in designated working spaces.

Now, the weather is getting warmer. Last time, it was also a little too hot on the main table as there was no air conditioning. But other than that, it is a nice place for coffee.

Interior de té in Gràcia

Matcha lattes in Barcelona – Interior de té

If you seek a unique and exotic tea room to enjoy your matcha latte, go to Interior de té. It is decorated like a traditional tea house and run by a friendly couple. She is Chinese. He is Catalan. They are warm, smiley, professional, very attentive and chilled. I love the personalised treatment. They both advised me what matcha tea to drink according to my preferences. I tried the matcha here, both hot and without milk and cold with milk. I enjoyed both.

The tea room has an extensive selection of teas. Tea lovers also have the option to purchase teas from the  shop next door. Additionally, Interior de Te provide homemade food that is prepared upon request, workshops, trainings, training trips to China, and tea ceremony.

Many locals come here. The day I went, a few carried laptops. So I pulled mine out and spent one hour on it.

I was unsure I could do that but the owners said nothing. However, it was also not rush hour. Next time, I will just ask :).

Matcha Gracias

Matcha lattes in Barcelona

Matcha Gracias is a matcha tea bar with a… bar and a shop. The shop sells Matcha tea and a few things related to matcha. I have never bought anything, so I have no comments here. The place is not big. The decor is simple with some neon on the wall.

The first times I came here, I had a Matcha latte. Classic and good! Last time, I decided to try something new and ordered a matcha coconut water. I apprehended the taste a bit, but it was actually delightful. There are different sorts of matcha beverages here. Based on my experience, I would say the other drinks, especially the “specials” should be nice. I will try next time!

Matcha Gracias also serves some brunch. I did not try any of the food so I will leave it to you to help me with your feedback :).
