This weekend is your last chance to enjoy Monet Immersive Experience in Barcelona. I went last Monday to check it out, and it has been a nice experience. I bought the ticket directly on the Ideal, Digital Arts centre’s website for 9.75 Euros (fees included). The tickets cost from 9 Euros to 16.50 Euros depending on the day. The cheap tickets are on Mondays.
The virtual tour
When I arrived, I started with the virtual reality tour. I really enjoyed travelling “inside” Monet’s paintings. The “anti-COVID” preparation for the tour has been impressive. First, I had to disinfect my hands and put gloves on. I had my mask on, of course, but then, they put a cover around my eyes so that my skin avoid touching the virtual tour helmet. I looked like a mummy with glasses. One staff member fixed the helmet on my head and started the virtual tour. However, it felt quite claustrophobic to have my mask, glasses, eye cover and helmet on. I had to take the helmet off and breathe.
Then I had to think about how I could enjoy this experience better. The answer: by removing at least one of the items covering my face: the only “dispensable” one was my glasses. So I took them off. That was more comfortable. I entered some of Monet’s paintings through virtual reality and explored them. It was fantastic. I enjoyed being immersed in a poppy field, walking on a riverbank, etc.

After the virtual experience, I walked through a room where Monet, the artist, was presented.
A real Monet painting was also exposed.
And finally, I entered the room with the immersive experience featuring large-format projections of Monet’s various works on the wall. They also projected some images on the floor. It was wonderful.
