Free Circus Show In Montjuic Castle

This Saturday, June 19th, there will be a contemporary circus show, Pals, by the Ciclicus Company on the grounds of Montjuic Castle.

Pals

Pals tells the story of a travelling circus troupe that has lost one of its members. The company members pay tribute to the missing artist to experience the mourning collectively.

The ritual homage to their friend consists of inventions that constantly suggest the concepts of change and transformation.

Pals is one of the last events to conclude a month of culture with the Nits al Castell (Catalan for Nights at the Castle) at Montjuic Castle.

Booking details

The show is free, but booking is required. You can book here. Doors will open at 20H, and the show will start at 21h30. Shuttle buses to Plaza de Espana will be available from 22h.

I have two tickets available. You can contact me for them.

Post edit on the free circus event in Montjuic Castle

The Ciclicus troupe in action

We attended the circus show. I thought Pals would be on the grounds where the Sala Montjuic movies were usually broadcasted. But the circus show happened inside the castle, which we could visit until it was closed at 11 pm. There was a food stall and a bar.

A creative and emotional show

The show was creative, emotional, and breathtaking. The artists were all skillful.

A senior man was part of the troupe. We wondered if it was a disguise, but one of the members told us he was 77 years old. It was fantastic to see him on stage. They were all amazing, don’t get me wrong. But how many 77 years old can you see sitting in balance on top of a wooden stick?

Interrupted by the rain

Unfortunately, we could not see the entire show because of the rain. One of the artists fell because the stage became slippery, so they decided to stop.

It was the right thing to do, even if we were sad not to see everything. The show involved a lot of carrying and balance from what we have seen. Everyone’s safety was more important. But we’ll take a rain check (no pun intended)!

I am waiting for them to organise another show in Barcelona.
