The Catalan Government is offering vouchers for up to 150 Euros for residents to travel in Catalonia.
This initiative which started on February 28th aims to revitalise tourism in the region. It is a great one, and I hope people will fully take advantage of it.
Residents interested in the offer can book their vouchers. I tested the link this week. It is still possible to get some vouchers.
The website is in Catalan. I don’t speak it, but I can understand it. It was relatively easy for me to follow the instructions. You need a NIE number if you are a foreign resident.
How does the voucher work if you want to travel in Catalonia?
The details on how to use the vouchers are explained on the website in Catalan. I made a quick summary in English here for you!
Once you receive the voucher in your email box, you also receive a list of accredited travel agencies through which you need to book at least one night of accommodation in Catalonia AND one activity, for instance, a guided tour.
Each resident can only get one voucher. You need to book your experience by its validity date. Travels with the voucher are possible until April 29th except during the Semana Santa (Easter week, from April 9th to 18th).
First, you need to find an agency that can help you. A friend of mine called a couple of places to organise a trip for her. They were already fully booked for the month. However, the list of travel agencies proposed on the website is quite extensive. Try your luck.
Then, you need to know where you want to go and what you want to do. If you have a clear idea in mind, it will be easier. Otherwise, some agencies propose already-created concepts. I suppose they can also tailor-make one.
The vouchers allow users to deduct 50% of the trip costs with a limit of 150 euros. Good luck!
