Yummy & Authentic Cantonese Food in Raval

I discovered a restaurant serving yummy and authentic Cantonese food in Raval.

You already know that my family and I go on a lot of culinary adventures. We were strolling through the city centre of Barcelona when my mum suddenly suggested that we eat Chinese food.

I had to think fast. I mainly know places around Arc de Triomf. That area is considered Chinatown in Barcelona. Then I turned my head and saw a restaurant, Canton Food 2, proposing Cantonese cuisine directly in front of my eyes.

Canton Food vs Canton Food 2

Cute pastel cushions

These two restaurants are part of the same group. I would have never guessed (gently sarcastic). Canton Food is located in Arc de Triomf while Canton Food 2 is more centric.

The second eatery is my favourite. I like its decor. With its booth seats, pastel cushions and huge glass windows, I find it much warmer and cosier.

The menu is nearly identical. I discovered an incredible wild greens won ton soup in the Raval place I could not order in Canton Food.

Yummy noodles

The menu offers a variety of dishes, including vegetable dishes such as aubergines with fish sauce, meat dishes like the Cantonese duck with soy sauce, spring rolls, dim sums (jiaozi, xiao long bao, etc.), congees, noodles, and fried rice. The restaurant caters for all tastes.

There are also some interesting named soups like the cordyceps flower with pork meat soup or the tea tree mushroom with chicken soup. Very intriguing, but for now, we are sticking with the classics. Do you also do that when you dine out? Or do you dare to try something new instead?

And then, there are the different set menus combining a main dish, a bowl of white rice, and a veggie side or a soup at a very affordable price. It costs around 11 euros.

Our experience

Samples of Canton Food’s food

For dinner, we ordered one dish each and then sampled each other’s plate. Does your family do the same?

I chose the beef meatballs and the siu mai for starters. I loved them both, tasty and juicy. I had the wild greens won ton soup as a main dish. It was my first time ordering vegetarian won tons and they were seriously delicious. That broth was tasty.

The second one of us ordered noodles and the third one, pork ribs with white rice. Nobody left the table disappointed with the food nor hungry with the sizeable portions.

The only drawback? Occasionally the service was a bit slow but always friendly and smiley.
