Sant Jordi 2023 Love and Fun

This Sunday is Sant Jordi 2023. As usual, it will be a day full of love, roses and books.

Here is a short list of interesting things happening during Sant Jordi.

Books and roses stalls everywhere in the city

The essence of Sant Jordi leans on books and roses from traditional bookstores and florists to books and roses stalls. In addition, there will be some authors signing on 213 stands.

The main streets for Sant Jordi 2023 with book and roses stalls are on the Ramblas and Passeig de Gracia. You can also find stalls in Ciutat Vella, Plaça Reial and, for the first time, from Canaletes to Passeig Colom.

Sant Jordi Musical in the Fàbrica d’Estrella Damm

Every year, you can attend Sant Jordi Musical the Fàbrica d’Estrella Damm (Rosselló, 515). This musical day has an unbeatable musical proposal and the entrance is (of course) free.

Sant Jordi 2023 - Archives, Puig Miqui at the Fabrica d'Estrella Damm in 2022.

Last year, we discovered several amazing local bands and DJs including Puig Miqui. We had so much fun dancing to his music.

The Recinte Modernista Sant Pau

The Recinte Modernista Sant Pau (St. Antoni Maria Claret, 167) is one of my favourite buildings in Barcelona, and they usually participate in Sant Jordi’s events.

Casa Batlló

Casa Batlló’s facade is covered with roses (Paseo de Gràcia, 43) from the 21st to the 23rd of April. Casa Batlló is one of the most beautiful displays during Sant Jordi.

Barcelona City Hall – Palau de la Generalitat

Barcelona City Hall will be open to the public on Sunday 23 April, from 10 am to 8 pm. Access is open to all. It is also free of charge (although numbers are limited). You can also visit the Mirador Maria Aurèlia Capmany, the ninth-floor vantage point in the Novíssim Building (entry via Plaça de Sant Miquel).

Red Cross volunteers will help individuals with reduced mobility who wish to visit the City Hall and need to use its lifts.

The building tour begins at the door in C/ Ciutat (Gothic façade), and to liven things up, several historical characters will be greeting visitors in the City Hall’s noble chambers. Sant Jordi and the princess will welcome visitors and bid them farewell at the C/ Ciutat entrance and in the City Hall’s courtyard.

I checked the website, and tickets are still available to visit the City Hall on Sant Jordi.

Palau Güell

The Palau Güell, the spectacular modernist building designed by the great architect Antoni Gaudí, invites you to an open day this Sant Jordi. This building is probably one of the most underrated Gaudi buildings in the city.

I visited Palau Güell for the first time during Sant Jordi and remembered being in awe of the magnificent building and its rich interior. And guess what? It is right in the city centre.

Limited tickets with prior reservation.

A particular note for this one: Pavelló Mies van der Rohe

This building sounds interesting. I have not seen it in any open-door event list yet.

On Sant Jordi, the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion transforms into a reading pavilion and will present publications that the Fundació has published over the years.
