A new concept: The Universe of light
The universe of light is the second edition of Els llums de Sant Pau. I missed last year’s show. This year, I wanted to check it out, so we booked our tickets.
The Christmas light show comes back with a brand-new concept, “L’Univers de la Llum”, The Universe of light, which takes us through the mysteries of galaxies, stars, and planets.
This event counts at least 20 light installations and a new sensory experience. Participants can enjoy projections, particularly on the main buildings’ facades, stars, luminous planets, interactive installations, music and evolving sound effects.
An immersive planetarium
One of the most special spaces on the route is The Universe of Light, the installation that gives its name to this year’s new experience. It is a planetarium.
Attendees enter through a mysterious entrance, will walk between different planets, and experience the feeling of walking in space. The soundtrack used will also make you feel like an astronaut.
Post edit: the after visit
One of my favourite light installations is what I call the “magic mirror”. It reminds me somehow of the mirror in Snow White. It is great for pictures but we had to queue for a while to take photos, even under the rain. Ah yes, because unluckily, the day we had our ticket booked was quite rainy.
I really enjoyed the colourful light effects on the building’s facades. The luminous angel wings were also quite nice. And the decorated trees reminded me of Christmas in Montreal.
On the planetarium
Ahem. I am embarrassed. We missed the planetarium. So I will come back to check it out. As I mentioned, the day we chose for our visit, it rained a lot in Barcelona. It distracted us. That is why I recommend you check the route map on the official website.
The show started on November 22nd. It will run until January 15th 2023, so you have time to plan your visit.
