Are you a Frida Kahlo fan? Would you like to know more about her?
Ideal Barcelona is organising an immersive biography of Frida Kahlo in the same line as Monet’s Immersive experience or Klimt, the immersive experience in Barcelona I mentioned previously on the blog.
Frida Kahlo’s life is presented through a collection of historical photographs, original films, digital environments, art installations, collectors’ items and newly created music that reproduce the most relevant moments of her life.
As such, visitors are invited to discover the incredible story that built the myth.
Post edit about the exhibition
I went to see the exhibition. It started with a Mexican flowery altar. Then, there is a timeline with important aspects of her life: her experience of maternity, her passions etc.
There was a colouring space for kids and adults alike. Quite fun!
Then the main room with the big screens projecting bright and exotic graphics. Everything I like in an exhibition.
Getting to know Frida Kahlo
I did not know much about Frida Kahlo. I learned about her as a person and an artist. I discovered a strong, passionate and intelligent woman. She did not let her physical disability prevent her from going for what she wanted professionally or romantically.
I am not a fan of her work – by the way, her paintings are not reproduced in this exhibition. It is just not my thing. But I am in awe of the person: how she got past pain transcending it into her paintings, her passionate love for Diego Rivera, and a personality that allowed her to go past conventions. A real icon.
The exhibition is still on
For all this, I thoroughly enjoyed that exhibition. I bet you will too. Still on at Ideal Barcelona. All the information you need is here.
