This weekend, Solstice a contemporary dance show at the Liceu is on. It was created by Blanca Li who will make her Liceu debut with a show that voices concern for nature.
Blanca Li is a Spanish born choreographer, film director, dancer and actress. She has created choreographies for the Paris Opera Ballet, The Berlin Ballet, the Metropolitan Opera, for filmmakers like Pedro Almodóvar or musical artists like Beyoncé, Daft Punk, Paul McCartney, Kanye West and Coldplay, among others. She is producing and directing Blanca Li Dance Company which has become one of France’s most successful independent companies and has been touring for more than 20 years worldwide with more than a thousand performances.
Fourteen incredible dancers and a percussionist bring the show to life. Through the power of dance combined with scenography, costumes, videos, lighting and music, it alludes to the disorders of our ecosystem and question the place of Man among Nature. Solstice has been choreographed and directed by Blanca Li and produced by Chaillot – Théâtre national de la Danse.
I have seen some incredible dance shows at the Theatre Chaillot when I was living in Paris and always been amazed by their creativity and the dancers’ techniques, among other skills. So I am really looking forward to Solstice. It will also be my first time in the Liceu. I can’t wait!
The shows last approximately 1h 25mn and run on 3 dates this February:
Saturday, 6th at 16h30 and 20h30
Sunday, 7th at 18h
Tuesday, 9th at 19h
