Summer is around the corner, and summer events are organised all over Barcelona.
In July 2017, I was talking about free movies on the beach. Cinema Lliure a la Platja is back and is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
Cinema Lliure
Cinema Lliure a la Platja is the broadcasting of free independent movies on various beaches along the Catalan coast.
This summer, the free movies on the beach will happen in Barcelona, Mataro, Palamos and Tossa de Mar from July 1st to August 5th.
The chosen movies have been part of famous film festivals, and a short one will precede the feature film.
In Barcelona, because of COVID, the capacity of the free movies on the beach is limited, and bookings will be required one week before each session.
Check social media and the web page to book. Instead of the sand, as shown in the photo, the movies will be held on the esplanade near the CEM La Mar Bella.

In addition to the free movies on the beach, other open-air cinema events are happening during the summer.
I particularly love going to The Sala Montjuic movies (paying events). Other cinema events in Barcelona include 4D cinema in Barcelona and the Phenomena Experience.
