Tonight is the Night of the Museums in Barcelona. Other areas around the city also participate to the event. The 8 cities participating to this great initiative are Barcelona, Badalona, Cornella, Esplugues, L’Hospitalet, Sant Adria, Sant Joan Despi and Santa Coloma.
Several museums will open from 18h to 22h to allow visitors to experience the permanent and temporary exhibitions that are currently on. Barcelonians will also have the chance to enjoy different activities such as family workshops, live performances and guided tours in the city.
I, for instance, will go on a guided tour of the Roman walls in the city centre. If I had more time, I would have visited the Monestir de Pedralbes as well. And if I had grabbed a ticket earlier, I would have gone to Palau Guell, a hidden gem by Gaudi in the heart of the city.
You can find a list of the museums participating in this great initiative here.
Post edit: the after visit during the Night of the Museums in Barcelona
I did the Roman walls visit in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. It was fascinating to learn about the time the Romans occupied Barcelona. It was also amazing to realise that some of the buildings we still see today and that are used date back from that time. Extra info: the tour was in Catalan only. Of course you can ask questions in Spanish but it is in Catalan.
