The CCCB welcomes the World Press Photo 2022 in Barcelona on its worldwide tour.
The World Press Photo is an international exhibition that showcases the best photojournalism and documentary photography produced over the last year. It has existed since 1955. An independent panel of photojournalism and documentary photography experts select the winners.
The World Press Photo exhibition is an annual event in Barcelona’s cultural agenda. I try not to miss it when it is happening. As the photographers report on burning topics, some pictures can be unbearable. But it is always informative.
This year, it will occur from November 4th to December 11th at the CCCB.
The winner of the World Press Photo 2022 in Barcelona
This year’s winner is Lalo de Almeida, a Brazilian photojournalist. He has also been working on documentary projects about traditional populations in Brazil.
He is a regular contributor to the Folha de San Paulo in the fields of photography and video, and since 2005, he has been reporting for the New York Times.
My experience
I went to see the World Press Photo exhibition.
Some photos were hard to watch, and some stories were hard to hear about. I learned about several events, such as the student protests in Bangkok in October 1976.
However, there were also some “positive” stories, like the one about the cool burning practices by Indigenous Australians.
Note: Visits on Sundays from 3 pm to 8 pm are always free of charge in the CCCB. But they must be pre-booked. When buying the ticket online, you must choose a visit time. You can also purchase your ticket at the CCCB ticket offices.
